“Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” (Matthew 14:29-20, NIV)

One of my favorite passages in the Bible is around a time when Jesus was walking on the water and Peter asked if he could come to Jesus on the water…in essence he asked Jesus, “let me walk on the water too;”and for a brief moment Peter was able to do the impossible, but when Peter realized what he was doing….when allowed the distractions( the wind and waves) to take his focus off Jesus, he began to sink.

For us this is a reminder that as long as our focus is on Jesus – even in the midst of the wind and waves – the storms and distractions of life – that Christ will help carry us over the storms.  It is as if Jesus says to us, “I will help you do what seems impossible on your own and make it possible with my strength…just place your trust in me.”

So, let us keep our focus on Christ – especially in those times when life seems hard – and let Christ help you make the impossible - possible.
