“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them."(Acts 2: 1-4, NIV)

This Sunday is Pentecost – a day where we pause and remember how God began to work in the lives of the early church.

Of course I love looking back and remembering what took place in the early church as they opened themselves up and allowed God to work through them to do great things, but why can’t that also still happen today?  You see I believe we can still do great things IF we are willing to give ourselves up AND let God work through us, for it is the same God now that was at work in them then.

So yes, let us look back and remember, but let us also look forward to what God can do next through us.
