And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3, NIV)

December 13, 2018

When Jesus was teaching about humility or trust or faithfulness, several times he used the image of a child.

Yet I wonder if Jesus was teaching in 2018 and teaching about what it meant to be a follower of his  - would he use the image of a dog? Think about this -  a dog is often described as man’s best friend because a dog is trusting and faithful – but more importantly a dog offers unconditional love and forgiveness to their master often at times when their master really just botches it.

Now while I am not calling us to become dogs, I am inviting us to consider taking on some “dog-like” qualities in our lives as we seek to be faithful followers of Christ.
