I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of[a] your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. (John 17:11, NIV)

October 4, 2018

This Sunday is World Communion Sunday. It is the one day we as Christians around the world gather at our different communion tables and remind ourselves that we are called to be one – one Body in Christ.

Yet as I look around and see a denomination that is possibly on the verge of a split, I wonder - have we forgotten that we are called to be one body. Sure we have our differences and there are certain things we may never agree on, but I believe what we can agree on is that there is a world around us that is still hurting and needs to both come to know and experience the love of Christ.

So as we come to our tables this Sunday, may we focus on that which unites us – Christ – not on that which divides us.
