It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. (Galatians 5:1a, NIV)

May 24, 2018

This weekend is Memorial Day weekend, and as a nation during this time we are called to pause, reflect and give thanks for those many who laid down their lives in the past in the name of freedom.

Yet when I consider this or hear myself thinking about freedom, I also think of another who laid down their life in the name of freedom – Jesus. Jesus who died so that we could not only be made free from the sins that bind us, but also freed from what we fear most – death.

So I encourage us to give thanks this weekend for those who valiantly served our nation, as well as I encourage you to pause and give thanks every day for the one who has set each of us free – Christ Jesus.
