Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent, a season where we prepare our hearts…our lives for Easter.
Like Jesus who spent 40 days in the wilderness before embarking on his ministry, during Lent we set aside 40 days between Ash Wednesday and Holy Saturday (the Saturday before Easter) as a time to reflect and implement the necessary changes in our life so that we can grow in our relationship with Jesus.
Now people will say, “that is more than 40 days, “ and they are correct because each Sunday is like a “little Easter” so that isn’t counted in the 40 days. In fact, the 40 days are set aside as a reverent time of reflection and each Sunday is to be a time of celebration.
So, to help meet our community this year, either those who may not either feel comfortable coming into a church or maybe those who just do not have time to come to our traditional 7:00 p.m. service on Ash Wednesday; we will be offering a mini drive-thru service from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Ash Wednesday (February 14). During that time we will share a brief scripture, prayer and place ashes in the form of a cross on your forehead as sign of repentance (change) as well as it is a reminder that as mortal beings we have only so long to live lives pleasing to God.
So, I invite you to come join us either from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on February 14, Ash Wednesday, or if you are free then come worship with us at 7:00 p.m. that night.
