The Apostle Paul writes, “For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.” (Romans 7: 18b-19, NIV)
We’ve all seen it before on TV and in movies – that one person who seems to keep stuck going in circles in a revolving door; and while we laugh at that person, how often does something similar to that seem to happen in life? Sure we might not be going in circles in a door, but how often do we find ourselves continually doing those things that we said we would never do again?
Call it sin, call it addiction, call it whatever you want – but we long for something more yet we aren’t even sure if it is even possible as we once again find ourselves falling into the same trap as before.
The good news is there is a solution – Jesus.
When Paul found himself in this trap, he asked, “Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? (but listen to the answer he found almost in the moment he asked the question) Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (Romans 8: 24b-25, NIV)
So I am inviting you to shift your focus in life from those things that bind you to placing your focus…your faith in the one who can free you – deliver you – Jesus.
Enjoy your week!
