“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ (Matthew 25: 37-40, NIV)
Tis the season for giving as many of us are found shopping, wrapping and preparing to give gifts to those whom we love.
Yet also during this time of year, in addition to our family and friends, many of us find ourselves longing to help those who are less fortunate than we are. As a pastor this pleases me seeing people longing to help others; however, I want to encourage you that when the holiday season is over that you continue living out of this spirit of generosity. You see the needs that are there in our world during the holidays are still there through the rest of the year as well, and Christ desires for us to both see and meet those needs as well.
So may we live lives pleasing to God. May we love as we are loved. May we have been given. Not just now….but always.
